If consumers need a reason to feel safe when hiring electricians or electrical contractors, they could turn to the Electrical Safety Authority (ESA). Among its other responsibilities, ESA considers matters of electrical safety a serious thing.
As such, the ESA works hard to make sure that their clients will be able to gain access to electricians or electrical contractors who are qualified. To that end, they periodically remind everyone to follow what they call the 3C’s of hiring electrical contractors or electricians.
Check
Ontario law permits only licensed professionals for electrical work in the province. Fortunately, ESA has online resources where consumers can check if the professional is licensed. Not only can consumers verify the status of their preferred contractor (such as Green Planet Electric) within the province, they may also see if that person is licensed for residential or other fields of work.
Confirm
ESA also urges consumers to confirm any scheduled electrical inspection with them. An inspection is required, whether the homeowner or the professional will do the electrical installation.
Call
Finally, consumers can call or contact ESA regarding contractors who do electrical work. Again, only individuals licensed by ESA can perform electrical jobs. Consumers can also ask the Authority questions related to electrical work and safety.
